Instructional workshop on supine mat evaluation

New designs, technology and materials in mobility and seating systems are enabling users greater independence and improved safety, comfort, and access.   Therapists involved in this area of practice need to be vigilant about maintaining competency, combining examination and evaluation skills with product knowledge and integrating both for an optimal outcome for the client.

This interactive, intermediate level course will focus on creating advanced assessment skills required for complex clients. We’ll create a process for determining appropriate postural interventions - promoting function while considering tone, spasticity and contractures, allowing for   change and ease of product use. This is an interactive course: the day will include hands on practice with each other and, to finish, hands on practice with a client. At the end of this workshop, participants will feel confident in assessing and prescribing seating systems and wheelchairs for complex clients.
