Frequently Asked Questions

No. Do not attempt this. Your car uses 12v whereas your scooter uses 24v.

No. Although they may look the same, a car battery and a traction battery are designed and built completely differently. If car batteries are used they will fail.

This can happen if the weather is very cold and damp. The reason for this is that ALL batteries perform less efficiently under these conditions, that is why it is very important to keep batteries fully charged.

This depends on how much you pay per unit for your electricity. The unit cost is usually found on your electricity bill. As an average, your battery charger uses approximately 438 units of electricity per year. The annual cost is 438 times the cost per unit. For the daily cost, simply divide the answer by 365.

Charge your scooter every day whether you use it or not. It is quite safe to leave your vehicle constantly on charge for up to five days. Charge periods should last for at least 8-10 hours for normal use and 10-15 hours for heavy use. Please refer to your owners manual for charging information.

Mobility scooters are a great way to improve your independence! Today, there are many different types of mobile scooters available on the market to choose from, all ranging in size, price and quality.

Before you decide on which mobility scooter best suits your needs, there are a few different things that you need to consider:

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO?
Do you want to use your mobile scooter inside your home or inside a shopping centre?  If so, you should consider a smaller scooter as they are designed to be mainly used indoors or on even terrain, like footpaths and pavements, and are typically smaller to help you navigate through busy shopping centres and indoor environments.

If you are looking to explore the great outdoors, than a larger and faster scooter would be your best option, as they tend to be more robust and are equipped with larger batteries to handle longer journeys on a single charge. Our S700 mobility scooter has a potential range of 55km before having to recharge.

If you are looking for both speed and power but still want a compact mobile scooter, then something like the S425 would be you best option.

SPEED
Be careful to make sure the mobility scooter you purchase adheres to Australian Rules and Regulations. In Australia, the legal speed limit for a Mobility Scooter is 10kph. If you rather slow down and smell the roses type of person, then the S400 maximum speed is only 6kph.

IS IT EASY TO OPERATE?
Optimal mobility scooters should allow you to adjust the position of the tiller and the seat, on your own if necessary. They should also feature easy to use controls and a smooth steering system to help you confidently navigate obstacles. And for those of you that like to get around at night, a mobility scooter that comes with headlights are an added bonus!

IS IT COMFORTABLE?
