For individuals who require a more complex seating solution, the JAY FIT 2U Back can be used when an off-the-shelf back cannot accommodate an individual’s orthopedic asymmetries or unique shape. For example, a client with a pronounced trunk rotation or fixed scoliosis requires multidimensional support. Unlike molded back supports, FIT 2U allows for adjustments to be made upon delivery and over time.
Interlocking JAY Dovetail Inserts and built-in adjustment within the backshell make it easy to create a personalized contour to suit your client's specific needs, with the flexibility to make adjustments as their needs change. The interlocking inserts can stack from 2 to 5 layers thick or 25 mm to 65 mm. Thanks to its dovetail joint, commonly used in furniture, the interlocking pins and tails make it difficult to pull apart. They are simple, quick to change, and more supportive than a typical soft foam.
JAY Rotational Swing-Away Lateral Thoracic Supports add a third plane of adjustment, allowing the lateral to be angled to match the trunk shape and position for the most complex scoliosis. The lateral pads rotate to meet contour angles and precise alignment. They can be placed exactly where support is needed and even two can be placed on one side if needed.
Five centimeters of independent height and width adjustments can be made to handle changing postures and growing clients. Height and width growth kits are available separately that include additional dovetail inserts to make adjustments in the field. Two simple bolts on the height adjustment panel allow the panel to be increased vertically and a zippered pocket on the outer cover holds additional dovetail inserts. Three easy-to-access bolts on the adjustment wing allow it to be moved in and out for the proper width. Additional dovetail inserts can be placed in the zippered pockets on the left and right sides of the inner cover as needed to create a personalized fit that can be adjusted as the client changes.
The outer stretch cover can easily be removed for cleaning while keeping the inner cover in place. The Dartex® layer of the inner cover protects the foam parts from moisture.
Adding a Whitmyer head support to the JAY FIT 2U Back provides a complete solution for positioning the cervical spine and head - from the most basic of needs to the most complex.
A Whitmyer headrest provides support to the head and neck for clients in tilt-in-space wheelchairs and those who need additional support to hold their head upright. A wide range of settings and positioning choices is available and all mounting brackets are designed to be durable and adjustable.
Superior trunk support is designed for improved overall function to encourage an upright posture and support the torso for improved respiratory function, head positioning, and upper extremity control.
The JAY GS Cushion incorporates a highly durable, stable foam base and JAY's proven fluid insert technology with the unique ability to grow with the client while maintaining optimal support, making it an excellent solution for growing children and adolescents.
The combination of the JAY FIT 2U Back with the JAY GS Cushion is highly recommended for a perfect seating solution for children and young adults. These two JAY products together are a great option for pediatric clients who require more complex seating.
JAY FIT 2U utilizes patented JAY J3 hardware, the Four-point (FP) system. Patented auto-lock hardware securely locks into place once back pins are inserted into the receiver – no extra step is needed. Quick-release levers allow for fast back removal.
