Assessment of Pediatric Clients

Assessment of Pediatric Clients for Postural Systems, Standing Devices and Wheelchairs.

Assessment of Pediatric Clients for Postural Systems, Standing Devices and Wheelchairs.

This is an intermediate course addressing the postural and mobility needs of the paediatric population while considering all 24 hours of the day . We will take the process from the beginning: including client assessment and postural mat evaluation.  We’ll consider tone, spasticity, growth and abnormal postures.  We’ll then translate this information into assistive technology options to promote function and participation.   This course will offer an opportunity to work through pediatric seating and mobility prescription in a clear, step-by-step process designed to support successful outcomes.  Clinicians will understand:

  • The power of 24 hour posture support
  • Postural management of pediatric clients while considering growth, ease of use, participation
  • How to maximize health, posture and function for pediatric clients
  • Critical components to consider in pediatric wheelchairs
  • Key features in Leckey Sleep and Seating Systems
  • Key features of Leckey Standing Systems
  • Key features and configuration available on Zippie Pediatric wheelchairs

At the end of this workshop, participants will feel confident in assessing and prescribing seating systems and wheelchairs for the pediatric client.
